Crowds of people poured into the Woolly Mammoth Theater, on 641 D St NW Washington, DC last night for the 19th annual fashion week kick off reception and Eco Friendly designer fashion show.
Upon entry to the venue patrons were greeted by gorgeous event hostesses and met by a lobby full of varying business owners and vendors. As I made my way through the different vendors like cleavitz [women’s body essentials], Decor and You [in home full service interior decorating], Red Zipper and Curvy Chix Chariot; out of all the vendors Curvy Chix Chariot was the most intriguing to me. They caught my eye because they run a full service moblie consignment boutique that services all women but caters specifically to plus sized women.
I spoke to founder Donna Hundley and got a brief background on her brand and she even pulled a few of her favorite pieces for me. I also had the pleasure of meeting Sherard and VaVa Walston of Red Zipper. They informed me on the brand and its founder Lydia J and were super helpful.
As I ventured further into the venue (almost a quarter minute until show time) I stumbled upon some lovely DC street stylers. Check out their photos below:
The show was fantastic, it was held in the beautiful Wolly Mammoth Theatre. Over the past 3 years Inova Health systems has partnered with DC fashion week to bring together fashion and sustainability.
This years show was curated by non other than DCFW founder Ian Williams. The Eco Friendly fashion show housed the theme centered around the Project Blue Wrap campaign. The PBW campaign allows local designers to compete and showcase their talent through recreating structured pieces by reusing “blue wrap” – a sterile plastic fabric used to wrap surgical instruments used within and through the Inova Health Systems.
Peering down from the press gallery, I wasn’t able to get great photos but I was able to capture a few Instagram videos from the show visit @StreetIntell to view them there. Featured runway designer collections: Isagus Extroversions, Red Zipper, and Simply L3ve.
