A vision crafted by founder DeShuna Spencer nearly 5 years ago, Empower magazine has been dedicated to shining a light on pioneers and agents of change; as well as providing insight on civic engagement, volunteerism and community cohesiveness. The 2014 Empower Awards was a culmination of their yearly efforts; the celebration of unsung heroes displayed just how powerful the execution of an idea can be. All of the night’s award recipients were not only dreamers and believers… but doers! They identified a need within their community and met it with unrelenting fervor. Whether it was engaging the community through advocacy, sustainability, mentorship or education; you can see by their efforts exactly why they were donned as one of Empower Magazine’s 2014 Empower Players. Congrats to them all!
