The DC International Film Festival is an annual celebration of international films from across the globe. The festival explores the work of prominent filmmakers of newly released, award winning and experimental films; many of which highlight various things such as socio-political topics and varing global lifestyles. The Filmfest kicked off its 28th season last Thursday and will run now until Sunday, April 27th. This year marks the last and final chance for patrons to experience a myriad of great international films. Check out a few of the featured films below:

This year’s festival is full of movie premieres and special events like ‘discussions with the directors’ and some other free events. The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival kicked off earlier this weekend, April 11th-13th and continues April 18-20. If you aren’t able to make it out to the fairgrounds no worries the fine people over at Coachella have blessed the world with a live YouTube Stream equipped with 3 different stage selections for each day and particular act. It appears Outkast will be hitting the festival scene hard this year. Just announced not only will they be performing under the dessert sun at Coachella but they will be cooling it on the east coast as they are now headlining at Firefly festival. Scope out the line up and grab your tickets here.
The Firefly festival in Dover, Delaware will take place from Thursday June 19th-Sunday June 22nd. This is turning out to be a mighty fine reunion “festival” tour for Outkast. They confirmed on Monday that they plan to perform at over 40 festivals worldwide this year.
Lionel Richie, Mary J. Blige, Jill Scott, Charlie Wilson, Erykah Badu and Ledisi will join Prince on the main stage roster of the 2014 Essence Festival in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. The 20th anniversary Essence Fest is July 3-6, 2014.
The secondary “superlounge” stages in the Superdome’s corridors will feature 112, Amel Larrieux, Doug E Fresh, Elle Varner, Eve, King, Leela James, Liv Warfield, Marsha Ambrosius, Naughty by Nature, Raheem Davaughn, Robert Glasper, Sebastian Mikael, Sevyn Streeter and Stephanie Mills.

The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival will take place once again over two weekends, April 11-13 and April 18-20. And yes, the long-awaited reunion of Outkast will come during the 2014 installment of Coachella as the co-headliners with Muse, and Arcade Fire.
