Current Vibes: @AlejandroChal | Ballroom Riots

Dope new artist out of LA, Alejandro Chal.

Get into what sounds like a heavily 90s inspired mix.

Lost in the Shadows so far is my personal favorite, I can easily see it being amplified in some DJ’s club mix or bringing life to any haute runway performance. Anyways enjoy for yourself and leave your comments below.

[Exclusive] SWL Lipstick Launch Party

On last Wednesday, July 17th our founder Carleta Fearon attended an exclusive Super Woman Lifestyle event. The event was held at Ozio’s rooftop lounge in downtown Washington, DC. The evening was hosted by noted entrepreneur and business coach Vicki Irvin. The SWL brand debuted a new product line of lipsticks targeted at modern career women and young female entrepreneurs.

Vicki Irvin has led the way in real estate investment, business coaching and internet marketing for the last few years. She has created a brand based upon uplifting and inspiring women entrepreneurs in and throughout the DC metro area. With various features in prestigious media outlets such as essence magazine her brand has been able to reach individuals across all states. Through her business mantra of beauty, business, and balance Mrs. Irvin continues to use her influence to help every woman break free from the status quo.

At the event guests were greeted by stunning local models from all around the DMV area, each of the models wore one of the signature SWL lipstick colors. Each color had a powerful name all reflective of the Super Woman Lifestyle.

Some of the colors featured at the event include: sexy, exude, simply me, attitude, gorgeous and boss lady.

Current Vibes: Like Water

It’s been a minute since we’ve hit you with some new music.
The Pro Era crew put together some visuals for the Like Water track off the “Peep the Apocalypse” mixtape. A track modeled after common’s noteworthy album “Like Water for Chocolate”. The track pays homage to one of the generals of the beast coast movement, the late Jamal “Jay Steez” Dewar aka Capital Steez.
Steelo was the true mastermind behind the ProEra and Beast Coast front.

#INHMD DM(V) edition hosted by @KoilsbyNature

On May 18th, the DMV Natural hair community came together and received a dose of fabulous, at the 2nd Annual [INHMD] International Natural Hair Meet-up day. Curlies from all over the area made their way to fellowship and enjoy a day full of networking, shopping, giveaways and workshops.

As I entered the venue I was greeted by lovely members of the Koils by Nature team. There was a detailed agenda provided outlining a variety of workshops hosted by Felicia Leatherwood. Just beyond the lobby was a room full of vibrant entrepreneurs. Many of the vendors were African-American which made my heart jump. I was able to survey the room and check out vendors ranging from spa and skincare services, apparel, jewelry and body essentials. All were eager and willing to support the budding community of women rocking their hair naturally. The event consisted of sessions and workshop setup to inspire and inform all the attendees on better skin and hair care practices.

I sat in on the panel discussion and Q&A. The Event host Pamela Jenkins of Koils by Nature was a fire cracker; keeping the crowd engaged and in laughter. She was clever and witty in addressing audience questions on important topics. The panel was stock full of amazing and distinguished women like Veola Jolly of Do You Naturally, Erin Martin of Bag Ladies Radio, Andrea of Zuriworks, and Diane Ramsey of Sisters with Beauty; just to name a few.

Check out a brief street team video clip below of Koils by Natures’ Founder, Pamela Jenkins as she responds to audience questions and comments.

There were also some local bloggers/vloggers and community natural hair personalities in attendance. My experience was great! I can not wait for next years event! It’s refreshing to see so many women come together to help each other learn and grow. We need more events like this, I met remarkable individuals and received invaluable information.
